As Tavia said, she was murdered but she’s not dead. Her killer is still free because of the decision of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office that her life wasn’t worth an investigation. Despite the outcry from her family and the community, they proceeded with a convenient lie that dishonors her life as a human being on Earth. They dismissed her death by painting the picture that she was another street junkie who died from an overdose and dishonestly put her in their twisted frame. Then the world moved on and they were never held accountable, even as her loved ones continued to campaign for #justicefortavia because they knew that the Sheriff’s narrative was false.
But Tavia has not been able to move on, she’s been stranded in time ever since – stuck like a magnet on a refrigerator – and crying for the justice she deserves, only nobody could hear her until now. Now that she has found her voice on this Earthly plane she will not be silenced again until her honor is restored and she is able to move on. Tavia demands justice from the HCSO. She demands that they admit their story about her death is false, that she was NOT a street junkie who died from an “accidental” overdose. She claims that she was murdered with an intentional overdose. She claims that the “Bad Man” shot her up to shut her up. She will not be forgotten. She will not be silenced. TAVIA STARELLA METZGER: ‘A WILD AND CARE FREE SPIRIT’

Tavia Starella Metzger, daughter of Tammy Hodapp was born October 11, 1986 in Eureka, California. She suddenly and tragically lost her life at the age of 33, on August 15, 2020.
Tavia joins her foster father Roger Mullins, foster mother Sharon Settles grandparents, Jenny Johnson, Mable Hoddap, Harold Hodapp, & Loren Hodapp Sr. As well as her aunt and uncle Loren Hodapp Jr, and Dawn Hodapp in Heaven.
Tavia will be forever remembered and missed by those who cared about her
She was in the graduating class of 2005 at Mckinleyville high where she did shotput from 2002-2004 and had set the all-girls shotput record. She also did rodeo and gymkhana as a child, where she participated in barrel racing, steer riding, and was awarded a buckle for steer daubing.
Tavia was a wild and carefree spirit who was loving and loyal to all those she cared for. She was someone who would go above and beyond to help anyone in need whether it was a family member, friend, or even a stranger. Her passion for animals was incredible. She would go out of her way to help any animal she’d seen in need.
She made a lasting impression on those whose lives she touched.
As a young adult, she worked at Muddy Paws where she fulfilled her passion of caring for animals while grooming dogs. This inspired her to dream of one day starting her own dog grooming shop. Tavia was quite the entrepreneur who had a knack for making many small businesses successful. Including selling thrive where she made it into the top 5 promoters on her team. In Tavia’s spare time she enjoyed listening to music, going to the beach, agate hunting, riding horses, and hiking the beautiful trails and redwoods of Humboldt County with her beloved Chihuahua Karma.
Karma was more to Tavia than just her dog, Karma was her baby who was treated and spoiled as such. She also enjoyed her coffee every morning before starting her day, especially from a french press.
Tavia was blessed to have a large family as well as an extended family.
She is survived by her mother Tammy Hodapp, Foster Mother, Marcia Norton-Mullins, foster father, Ron Settles, Brother, Michael Rodelander, foster brother, Glen Norton, Sisters, Sawnae Metzger, Aundrea Vaughn, Foster sisters- Brenda Norton,
Maryanne Thompson, Tina Norton-Tilley, Tiffany Settles-Morias, Brandy Settles, Crystal Brown, Bestfriend, Stephanie Meng, Nieces and nephews, Lauren, Joe, Eva, Loren, Shane, Evan, Seth, Mason, Jace, Chrissy, Bryan, Michael, Sierra, Aunt, Luana Hillman, cousins, Karen Hodapp, Julie Hodapp, Dave Hodapp, and great aunt and uncle- Marge and Vern Hodapp. As well as so many more.
Tavia will be forever remembered and missed by those who cared about her, She made a lasting impression on those whose lives she touched.
